When it comes to different genres of music , especially within the philadelphia USA music scene, it would be accurate to say that Oneluv Mahugu has a unique sound. When an artist starts singing or rapping , it is easy to distinguish where an artist is from especially if the artist is from Philly, but not in the case of Oneluv.
Former videographer turned recording artist Oneluv Mahugu has seen first hand the rise and fall of many prominent Philly artists. Working with the likes of State Property and other well known artists in the early 2000’s he witnessed the growth of the “Philly sound.” However, now that he is on the other side of the lens, Oneluv is looking to separate himself from the pack. Harvesting his african roots, Oneluv’s sound may have some Philly influence with a mix of ethnic african distinct sound, Afro beat and dance hall.
Oneluv’s much anticipated debut mix album “The Love Doctor Vol 1” carries a balanced sound of dance hall/Afro beat and hip hop. The project takes you through a trance of female appreciation but also has conscious messages.
